“Music speaks what cannot be expressed, soothes the mind and gives it a rest, heals the heart and makes it whole, flows from heaven to the soul.” – Unknown
When I was young, my mom belonged to Columbia House. She let my brother and I each select five artists because there was some great deal when you ordered at least ten cassette tapes. I can only remember one of the artists I chose, AC/DC (because I thought the name was pretty cool). When the order arrived in the mail, I went into my room to listen to all my new music. I had never heard AC/DC and can honestly say, that at the youthful age of seven or eight, I wasn’t a fan. Little did I know that in high school, a basketball game wasn’t a game if Back in Black wasn’t a part of the warm up mix.
Music has always been a big part of my life. Not because of my talents, but rather because there is always a genre, an artist, a song that touches my soul and speaks to me in a moment. I’ve listened to music through countless miles of running, while studying, to help mend a broken heart, getting ready for a night out with friends, to calm my mind; I could go on and on.
Music tells a story and sets a mood. So what better to use than music to help set the tone for a date. Here are five types of music you can listen to:
#1: Songs that increase your confidence
Going out on a date can make you feel excited/nervous and even a little uncertain. Listening to songs that strengthen you, increase your confidence and make you feel good will create an air of positive energy around you.
#2: Songs that make you want to dance
Dancing…whether you feel you are “good” or “not so good” is fun. We all enjoy fun dates! So find some music and practice a few moves (even if they never leave your bathroom) while getting ready for your next date. The fun you have grooving to the music at home will follow you out!
#3: Songs that inspire you
Inspiration can invoke passion. The energy of an inspired person is infectious and extremely attractive.
#4: Love songs from when you were young
Listening to love songs from our youth inspires memories of first love, innocence and vulnerability. They can bring a softer energy forward and help remind you of the sweetness that comes with dating and romance.
